Introduce Yourself in English

How To Introduce Yourself in English

By: slow english podcast team.
Do you get nervous when someone asks,                  “Tell me about yourself?

Don’t worry!  In this post, I’ll show you how to introduce yourself in English — step by step — with simple examples.

This is one of the most important things you must learn as a beginner. Whether it’s for school, job interviews, or meeting new people, a clear self-introduction shows your confidence and communication skills.

 1. Start with a Greeting

Always begin with a polite greeting. This creates a friendly first impression.

πŸ”Ή Examples:
                       Hello!
                       Hi, good morning.
                       Good afternoon.
                       Good evening.

🟒 If it’s formal, use “Good morning” or “Good afternoon.”
🟒 If it’s casual, just say “Hi” or “Hello.”

2. Tell Your Name

Say your full name clearly.  You can also say your nickname if it’s friendly or informal.

πŸ”Ή Examples:
                        My name is Jack.
                        I’m Maestra.
                       You can call me Narratee.

🟒 Tip: Speak slowly and clearly.

3. Say Where You’re From

Tell your city, state, or country.

πŸ”Ή Examples:
                        I’m from Deels, America.
                        I live in Australia.
I’m originally from Melbourne,                                but now I live in Laos.

🟒 This gives people context about your background.

4. Talk About What You Do

Say your profession, studies, or work.

πŸ”Ή Examples:
                       I’m a student.
                       I study at XYZ College.
I work as a graphic designer.
I’m currently preparing for                                       government exams.

🟒 Tip: Keep it short and simple.

 5. Add Something About Your Interests

Mention your hobbies or something you enjoy.

Examples:
I like reading and listening to music.
                    I enjoy watching English movies.
My hobby is writing short stories.
In my free time, I practice English.

🟒 This helps make your introduction more personal and interesting.

 6. End Politely

Close with a nice line to finish your intro politely.

πŸ”Ή Examples:
That’s all about me. Thank you!
                        Nice to meet you!
                        I’m happy to introduce myself.
                        Thank you for listening.
