Biggest Mistake In Spoken English
Don’t Do These 10 Mistakes in Spoken English.
π Hello learners
Are you learning English and trying to speak with confidence?
That’s amazing! But many English learners make the same small mistakes again and again — and don’t even realize it.
In this post, I’ll show you 5 common mistakes you should stop doing, and what to say instead.
❌ Mistake 1: Saying “I am agree”
π΄ Wrong: I am agree.
✅ Right: I agree.
π “Agree” is not an adjective. You don’t need “am” before it.
Just say: I agree with you. (NOT "I am agree with you.")
❌ Mistake 2: Using “very” with everything.
π΄ Wrong: very amazing, very delicious, very perfect
✅ Right: amazing, delicious, perfect (no “very” needed)
π Words like “amazing” and “perfect” are already strong.
No need to add “very” before them.
❌ Mistake 3: Saying “He do” or “She go”
π΄ Wrong: He do homework. / She go to school.
✅ Right: He does homework. / She goes to school.
π For he, she, it, always use does/goes/has, not do/go/have.
❌ Mistake 4: Translating from your native language.
π΄ Example: “Today I am not going school.”
✅ Right: “I’m not going to school today.”
Always think in English as much as possible. Practice small sentences daily.
❌ Mistake 5: Not speaking at all because of fear
The biggest mistake?
Staying silent because you’re afraid to make a mistake.
Remember:
“Mistakes are proof that you are learning.”
❌ Mistake 6: Using “He don’t” instead of “He doesn’t”
π΄ Wrong: He don’t like tea.
✅ Right: He doesn’t like tea.
π Rule: With he, she, it, always use doesn’t (not don’t).
❌ Mistake 7: Saying “I didn’t went”
π΄ Wrong: I didn’t went to the market.
✅ Right: I didn’t go to the market.
π After did/didn’t, always use the base verb (go, not went).
✅ Examples:
She didn’t eat.
We didn’t see the movie.
❌ Mistake 8: Mixing “much” and “many”
π΄ Wrong: I have much friends.
✅ Right: I have many friends.
π Use much with uncountable things (water, money).
Use many with countable things (books, friends).
✅ Example:
I don’t have much time.
She has many books.
❌ Mistake 9: Saying “I am doing mistake”
π΄ Wrong: I am doing a mistake
✅ Right: I made a mistake.
π You don’t “do” a mistake — you make it.
✅ Say:
Sorry, I made a mistake.
❌ Mistake 10: Using wrong word order in questions
π΄ Wrong: You are coming tomorrow?
✅ Right: Are you coming tomorrow?
π In English questions, helping verbs (is/are/do/does) come first.
✅ Examples:
Do you like pizza?
Is she ready?
Can we go now?
